Hello,
This is in response to Dan W. of Chicago who stated he will no longer listen to nor attend any concert of Jackson due to his association with MoveOn.Org. [See letter from previous month.]
If you have been listening to Jackson Browne's music for very long you have to realize that he has performed many political songs for many, many years. Why does it bother you now? Songs like Lives in the Balance are political in nature and ring with as much insight today as it did when he first recorded it all those years ago. Jackson has been involved in liberal leaning groups for many years such as Amnesty International and MUSE. What, in particular, is so offensive with MoveOn that you will never give yourself the pleasure of hearing Jackson's music ever again? Never is a long time.
I can remember seeing Jackson in Kansas City on the Lawyers in Love tour. He made a comment that the local media wanted to talk with him about his political views. He stated, "Why do you want to know what I think? I'm just a singer like Ronald Reagan is just an actor." A couple sitting next to us got up and walked out and never returned. They wound up missing one of the best shows I've ever seen by any artist.
To not listen to his music again is very sad. You can enjoy music without having to embrace a singer's belief on every issue, no matter who the singer is nor what their views are. I would think if you value freedom of expression you would want him to continue to voice his beliefs no matter how contrary to yours and would fight to the end for him to do so as I feel he would fight to end for you to voice yours.
I have two extra general admission tickets to the Ventura Hillsides Conservancy concert, featuring Jackson, Lucinda Williams, Venice and Glen Philips, on Sunday, September 12, 2-6 p.m. I am offering them to the first respondent (cohenapple@aol.com) for free (assuming that you live somewhere where I can mail you the tickets in time, or deliver them if you live in West LA).
Webmaster's Addition:
I'm told that these tickets are now spoken for.
Russ
Thanks to Patti R of Easton. CT. We had not heard about Dan Fogelberg's illness and cancelled tour. [See letter from previous month.] My husband and I fell in love to Dan's music - 'Netherlands', and 'Home Free' back in '77,'78. We hope he can make a full recovery. We just purchased a DVD - Dan Fogelberg Live - Greetings from The West recorded in 1991 and we were just blown away (again) by his incredible talent! We would love to be able to see him come into the Northest again on tour. This news is very sad, and again, we hope he can make a full recovery. Best Wishes to he and his family.
All I know is, the MoveOn website posted some wrong information about where Jackson would be on October 8th--they said Jacksonville--he'll actually be in Aruba, to where I already had tickets, on my first actual vacation ever. I emailed them, Bonnie's website, Jackson's website, and the Aruba website. All of them responded except MoveOn, which eventually corrected their information. Yes, they have a lot going on, a lot of details to attend to--but have your information right before you put it out there!!
And I'm one of both Jackson's and Bonnie's all time loyal fans. I've seen both of them, wherever I lived, whenever they came by!! And for them to be in Kansas City--when I'm already in Aruba!! A hard choice. The last time they were here together was in November of 1974--I had tickets, my son, now 30, was born a few days earlier--so I couldn't go (still can't). But I'm sure the Aruba trip will be so worth it, to see him in person with his present band!
Keep up the good work, Russ. I always enjoy the reviews!

Thanks for your help with this, Russ.
Looking forward to the show...........
Russ,
Thank you for your continued dedication to the website. Please know that you are very much appreciated by us diehard fans. A BIG THANK YOU! I just wanted to share a little about yesterdays show in Ventura. It was the most beautiful day; perfect weather, great people, and fantastic music. It was the best setting ever to enjoy a Jackson Browne concert. I believe there were only about 2500 people sitting on this beautiful open lawn that was nestled along the hillside.
Venice started it off. This group is just so talented. One minute they are blending there beautiful harmonies and the next they're doing the Stones. Kipp, one of the lead singers starts making like Mick Jagger and doing a pretty good! They are all related and their love for each other and music really shows on stage. I've seen them before with Jackson and have never been disappointed; they are really fun.
Glen Phillips was next but I can't give to much feedback on his act because I got a little distracted by the beauty of the park and took a little walk. His music was very soothing and was a perfect backdrop for the landscape I was taking in. Lucinda Williams was next and she was awesome! I've seen her name around town for years but that was the first time I finally got a chance to see her perform. I'd heard she was pretty crazy, but as she actually said herself, she was on her best behavior. Her music was very poetic and I believe everyone really enjoyed her performance. You could tell she was really thrilled to be on the same stage with Jackson Browne.
Then as the sun was starting to go down (it was about 5:30 or so), Jackson comes out on stage. I don't believe I've ever seen him in a daytime venue and it was cool to see him walk out in sunglasses. Somehow I got really lucky and was seated in the front row. (Thank you Ventura Hillsides Conservancy!) I tell ya, this man must drink tons of that wheatgrass and carrot juice or something cause he just does not age. He has got the best hair! If he is gray and coloring it, he is doing an excellent job because it is absolutely beautiful. I can't remember what he opened with (I was still in awe) but I know the second song was the Pretender. He also sang America, Rock me on the Water, Running on Empty, and Take it Easy; maybe someone can post the entire list.
The set seemed very short, I think he played for only an hour or so. His encore included all the other performers from the show. He was in very good spirits and as always, was eager to share center-stage; encouraging others to take the spotlight. I saw him smile alot and he looked like he was really happy which was contagious to all who were present. He ended the show with Brown Eyed Girl which I had heard him do one other time with Venice. The crowd was up and dancing and just having a really wonderful time. Not only is Jackson the best, I believe his fans are too. For me, and I'm sure for many others, it was an absolutely perfect day.
God Bless,
Hi--just wanted to add to Tiki's great and descriptive review: Venice was awesome as she said --very sweet lyrics and great music and just very personable on stage! The Mick Jagger impersonation was hilarious! I had never seen them before and now I'm a fan--bought two CDs! I thought Lucinda Williams was also pretty good--some great rocking guitar! I'm not familiar with her music, really, but she did one song I did know and like (Out of Touch). Glenn Phillips also good but much more mellow so probably should have opened the show.
Our man Jackson was in fine form and played with his band except for Mark G.-- don't know where he was! The set list was: Child In These Hills (which made me extremely happy as I had been hoping he'd play it--I've seen JB 30 times or more and never heard him do that one live and it was perfect for a hillsides protection benefit!), Pretender, Lives In the Balance, For America, I am a Patriot, Bright Baby Blues, Running on Empty, Take It Easy, Brown Eyed Girl and the Weight--those last 3 or 4 with everyone on stage and having a blast it seemed! I too was lucky to have a front row seat and it was a perfect show except that it was TOO short!
Thanks as always for this great web site--we love you for it! It's so wonderful to be able to get a review from a real fan when you can't attend a show! And keeping informed of the JB news is so essential for many of us!
Hi Russ,
Much to my surprise, I still have two seats in the 3rd row for Erie PA Vote for Change show to sell at cost. if you know anyone who wants to go, let me know.
Thanks
Regarding the Saturday Ventura concert: Yes it was gorgeous and amazing. What a treat to take a picnic and blanket and participate with some of the best singers from the heart on a Saturday afternoon. Jackson opened with "I am a Child." I didn't worry about keeping track of everything either. Glen Philips was great. I wished he had stayed on stage longer, but then we would have heard less from Jackson Browne. I will definitely look for tickets next year, and we joined the HIllside Conservancy. How great to see so many of us ready to protect our natural spaces. The Chumash blessing was a wonderful way to open the event. I also enjoyed how low key it was. It was like just going to the park with some great people for the afternoon. Like we were part of the performers' family. I went to the Pacific Amphitheatre in July and enjoyed Jackson, and enjoyed him just as much last weekend. This is the first year I've attended one of his concerts and I had the treat of seeing him twice. It was good to see him in Orange County since I grew up there too and shared his disenchantment with the overall tone of development and phoniness, and now relate as an adult returning for a visit. I moved further north as a teen.
Venice is my new discovery from last weekend. They got us dancing and their voices are soothing. Like the early CSN harmonies. Their CD 2 meter sessions includes For a Dancer featuring Jackson Browne. Find this CD and buy it! Their website is www.venicecentral.com.
He played For a Dancer too! Unfortunately a drunk dancer caused a disturbance during this song, but everyone calmed down. (People being stepped on...people started swinging fists...) It distracted from the focus for a bit. Thank you Jackson for putting your voice out there for change and positive forces. I am glad to see you so happy in these years of your life!
P.S. In Orange County I was disappointed that the audience didn't appreciate Shawn Colvin. I went to listen to her as much as Jackson. There was constant talking through her set. (I know people were still getting seated etc.) She probably needed a full electric band for such a big venue, but I did my best to try to get my neighbors to quiet down and listen. It is such a treat to go out to hear music. Please be there for the music if you buy a ticket....not to socialize with friends loudly. (At least not loudly.) I know the social part is important too....but I want to hear and enjoy the music!
Webmaster's Relpy:
I just wanted to add that I've been a Venice fan since the mid 1990s. Great harmonies, and one of the best live performances around. I'm partial to their 1997 album Born and Raised which features their wonderful harmonies, and their two Garage Demos albums from 1995.
Venice has opened for Jackson Browne on numerous occasions through the years, and no less an authority than David Crosby has been known to refer to them the best vocal band in the world. Venice Central has lots of sound bytes, vidoes and information about the band. It's probably the best website about a band that you'll find.
Russ
Since several of the above reviews of the Ventura show rave about Venice, I thought it was worth letting you all know that Venice will be playing at a benefit for the Canyon Charter School in Santa Monica on Sunday, October 3 (Pat Lennon told me it was October 2, but the Venice website has what I assume is the correct date). David Crosby is supposed to appear with them; check Venicecentral.com for ticket details.
Hi. I have 2 great seats for the upcoming Vote for Change Tour in Phoenix. I paid $60 each for them. They are in row AA of section 204 which is one section behind the front. The front section is not that big so these are great seats. Due to medical reasons I will be unable to go to the show. If you are interested please email me at beloy2@yahoo.com. Thanks.
I would like to just make a statement about the few letters that have come in regarding people being upset that Jackson Browne is involved in Moveon.org. First of all, Russ and all the people who have responded to them have done so in such a compassionate and responsible way; it makes me proud to be a Jackson Browne fan, and I am very envious of the spiritual maturity of my fellow fans, but have quite away to go in that department, speaking for myself. Please forgive me!
I am surprised that you received such letters assuming that the people who would visit this site in the first place, would be people who were touched by Jackson's message on so many levels: emotional, spiritually, and "politically". I would rather use the word philosophically, because for me the terms over-lap in meaning. For what is politics in a democracy, other then the messy business of mixing many personal philosophies together to determine how we should live and work together as a community through the choices we make as a collective. With that in mine, Jackson Browne has laid bare his politics like no other in all his albums to date. I think it would be self-evident to his fans even without his involvement in this charity who he would support in this 2004 election. But being Jackson Browne requires that he try to live an authentic, responsible, and compassionate "Rebel" life, which demands involvement and energy, "Tell I go down" like he once wrote.
While Jackson Browne's music has always interwoven his unique philosophy in all his songs, the songs that are considered "Politically overt" are ones stating his misgivings to specific events in the world in the 1980's, that did not sit well with his firmly held philosophy. This suggests that these people who are upset really haven't been listening, and should have stopped attending a long time ago. Truth be told, with Jackson it usually is, he has never walked a thin line by trying not to upset his market base. I don't think Jackson Browne took a risk by doing this, as some people have suggested, it is just what is required for his particular unique spirit. I don't think it has a choice in the matter. You should have all seen it coming with "Doctor My Eyes", a mantra for the Republican Party it is not. Jesus Christ was a very political person too, speaking on the social/economic situation of his day, and there are many Christians today that don't believe in his politics and just want the "I believe in the literal text of the bible so I have salvation" version of the religion, and I guess that is fine too, but I have never quite understood it, to be honest. What moved me about Jesus was his compassion and how he spoke truth to power, and how he in the end was ridiculed by his very own people. If you check your history, that man ended up on a cross. Make the comparisons for yourself, read the Thomas Gospel, and then tell me who he is. They didn't understand him then, they still don't understand him now. One good thing about Jackson Browne fans, they know the difference between connotation and denotation when if comes to spiritual matters. In the end, when the light that is lost within him reaches the sky, and Jackson Browne "the Dreamer" has left us, his gift to us will be a legacy of songs pointing us in the direction of a more connective, compassionate, sane, environmentally sustainable community, if we are all so lucky, If your dream is not the same, there will always be a forced compromise, but the battle of minds will rage on.
One song that speaks to his hope that we could be a such community and eludes to his philosophy within that community would be the song, "Before the Deluge", where Jackson Browne writes, " Some of them were angry; About the way the earth was abused, By the men who learned how to forge her beauty into power; ......", but Jackson Browne gives us fair warning in that same song, when he writes, "Some of them were Dreamers, and Some of them were Fools......". I imagine that this song, or hymn, depending on how you see it, has a nice beat, but for me, there is power in the message. I find it hard to believe that anyone moved like I am by J.B. words, could vote for G.B., just on his environmental record alone. Browne's philosophical lyrics are an inextricable frame that supports his art. I guess the paintings of Mexican artist Diego Rivera could be appreciated only for the colors, shapes, and textures that depict farm workers toiling in the hot summer fields as well. But I believe there must be some common thread between the artist and recipient of that art on some philosophical level for a strong connection to be made, so that the deeper meaning of the art is elucidated. This can be ignored if Jackson Browne is just looked upon as an entertainment commodity to be consumed, the same way a band like "KISS" is, which is a value when you add in all the theatrics.
I think it is just a little "Late for The Sky" for some fans; in fact it is around midnight. I would encourage people to go to Jackson Browne Concerts to get their spirit re-born; not to be entertained. I know that sounds corny, but for those who have experienced it, they know what I am talking about. I would hope they who find Jackson Browne's stances offensive find a better way to spend their "entertainment" money. Find something that makes you passionate and then do it, or find in artist that supports your deeply held beliefs, who moves your soul. Maybe it is an artist who believes in tax cuts for the rich, and leaving a waste land for future generations, whatever turns your boat, then get on the Fan Website of your new thoughtful soul mate musician artist and write a scathing letter about people like me. That is what democracy is about. I am hoping, "moving on-"ward, that there will be a few less drunk fans, yelling in my ear for some Jackson Browne-Lite ............Play Rosie! Play Rosie! Don't bother us with your politics! Don't bother us with what is down deep in your soul! Don't be you, we don't what to hear it! Chase the almighty dollar! Be a Pretender! No way, not going to happen, so I would suggest, they learn to play the piano and they can play Rosie in solitude like "everyman". The fingering is not so hard to learn on that one.
Jackson Browne alluded to the fact that he rather live in Spain in his last album, because he no longer feels spiritually at home here in the U.S.; If this election was to take place in Spain, or anywhere else on this planet, this election wouldn't be close at all, and he be working on some other important project that he thought would help the condition and the future of the human race, or taking care of his own family; that I am sure of. Maybe if your lucky, this election will push him over the edge and you won't have to deal with him anymore. For myself, I'm thinking Croatia. Dobar Dan!
Fight On Brother! Keep Speaking Out Please!
Hi,
I have a pair of tickets to the Oct. 1 Jackson/Bonnie/Keb' show that I'm selling at my cost ($109.35). The seats are excellent: Left section (101), Row G, Seats 10-11. Please e-mail me at jmiller@patmedia.net. Thanks.
Hi Russ, If anybody coming to the Vote For Change show in Erie, on October 1st needs any info about where to stay, what to do, restaurants to go to, or anything else Erie, feel free to send me a e-mail and I will gladly provide any info they may need.
Thanks,
Thanks to tcvelbar for so eloquently expressing the thoughts I have been having since reading the first letter rejecting Jackson for his involvement with Moveon. I especially relate to your comment about his events being for spiritual renewal. I have been fortunate to have been to three of these events this year, the last one being the benefit for the Ventura hillsides where it seemed to me he was tuning up for the Moveon minitour. I was moved to tears on several occasions. It was especially important to me since I was able to take my 18 year old daughter to her first JB event and of course this will be her first election to vote in. The songs helped her to understand my viewpoint more than listening to CD's because of the emotion of a live JB performance.
I have a pair of what I believe are front row tickets to see Jackson Browne on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 8:00 P.M. at the Warner Theatre in Erie, PA on the Vote for Change Tour. The tickets are in Section 103, Row B (see seating chart on Ticketmaster website). Unfortunately, due to a change in travel plans, I will be unable to make the show. If you are interested in purchasing these tickets, please feel free to call me at home at 973-763-5612.
Thanks very much.
Russ, I have always enjoyed Jackson's music. His political view is another thing. Everyone is entitled to opinion but when a celebrity uses his status is he not as corrupt as the politician? Jackson has beat a dead drum for as long as I can remember. I have agreed with some of his statements but not the method he has used to get the message out. Most politicians are corrupt so how about using his energies and resources to find a "Common Man" one who's wasn't born with the proverbial silver spoon in his or her mouth.Being linked to a corrupt organization like moveon.org is unbelievable. I am not saying the other side is that much better but! Thanks,
Hi Russ,
We saw the show last night and thought I'd drop a line to you about it.
Firstly, it appeared that the grandstands were full to the brim and JB and the band started promptly at 8pm, ending at 10:30pm with 2 encores. Venue is actually pretty good (great sound, great seats), they could improve the ticket gate process (think herding cattle) and of course, my usual complaint regarding the ultra-crappy wine that is served in most venues. You know, if you're gonna be charged $8 plus for 4oz it should not taste like it's gonna melt your fillings... ok, I'm over it now. Anyhoo...
A nice mix of the classics and new material with a set of his more political songs in the middle. I almost wondered if he was testing the set list in preparation for the upcoming swing state tour. They were well received, which frankly surprised me as this is the same county that assured the election of Arh-nold to Governor (much to my embarassment). The band was great, all voices in fine form and the reworking of some of the older stuff was really very fun. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and don't understand why I didn't buy front row seats. Everyone around us was having a wonderful time and I doubt JB knows this but as the coach was pulling away the crowd yelled and waved after him! It was a very 60's kinda moment. Well, I'm a little teary now thinking of it.
He was generous and talkative, commenting on the hearing impaired translator (she was REALLY getting into it!) and when he started the political songs said something about how it's always uncomfortable to talk about politics and then said 'Don't get me started' to which the crowd roared for him to go right ahead. Other comments included this, his first visit to the Ontario Int'l airport, how Fountain of Sorrow was written about a former girlfriend and the song was 'kinder than she deserved' and mentions of local landmarks, i.e. Fontana, Hemet & Culver City (yeah, you folks outside of LA will have to look that up - heck maybe even some of you Angelenos).
As we left Bob mentioned that he'd seen JB in 1978 (yes, right after the glaciers receded) in San Jose and how the show was great then but that his showmanship skills had greatly improved and this show was better. We then met a woman asking us a number of JB questions along the lines of whether he was gay (In my head I was yelling HUH? Not that it would matter one bit but come on now) and how old he was and whether he was married (now she's starting to scare me) and how does he get his hair so shiny. Oh my. She had apparently found a better wine source than I.
Keep on moving, things are bound to be improving...
IF YOU HAVE NOT YET REGISTERED TO VOTE - GO TO NOVEMBER2.ORG. You must be registered (with the registrar's office) 15 days before the election to be able to vote on Nov 2.
Set list (well kinda, I'm rather old now you see, memory not so good).
Not complete or in correct order:
- Fountain of Sorrow
- Rock me on the WAter
- Your Bright Baby Blues
- These Days
- Take it Easy (although I was all excited to hear 'she's just a little hard to find' but JB sang the Eagles version 'she's sooo hard to find' - ah well)
- Lives in the Balance (pretty stunning how relevant it still is today - we don't seem to be getting better, just more apathetic)
- I'm a Patriot ('I ain't no Republian' got a big response)
- Naked Ride Home (surprised by how many people knew this)
- Somebody's Baby
- My Imagination (title?)
- The Barricades of Heaven
- Culver Moon
Encore 1
- Doctor My Eyes
- The Pretender
- Running on Empty
Encore 2
- Load Out/Stay
We need to help JB with a replacement lyric for 'we got disco, in 8-track and cassette in stereo'. What do you think of 'we got El Rayo-X on CD and MP-3'? ;-) Well, I think David Lindley would approve. And where was David - I thought for sure seeing as he lives in those neck of the woods...
Hi Russ, just got home from the Reno concert. It was really high energy, a great performance. The audience was really into it, dancing and singing and JB told "Mr. Security Man" to let the people dance, they would go back to their seats after that song was done". Yeah, like that happened!! It was just like concerts I remember as a teenager, maybe I'm in a second teenagerhood or something!! Anyway, the reason for this e-mail is to ask if you know anything about the audio DVD "ROE" that was surpposed to have been released a couple of months ago. I haven't seen anything about it for awhile on the website, people have stopped asking about it. But the Reno paper had an article about JB and wrote that that the DVD was released. Any info? And any inside info about a 2005 tour? This has been such a phenominal (I don't think thats spelled right but you know what I mean!) year for me with JB concerts, I can't wait to repeat next year!!!!!!!!
Webmaster's Reply:
As far as I know, the DVD-Audio version of Running On Empty has not yet been released. I keep reading about release dates -- seems like every article and website has a different date! -- and I don't know where these people get their information because Jackson's management keeps telling me that they haven't set a release date yet and don't know when a release date will be set. I'll be sure to post about it on the website when it does get released. I have absolutely no idea what is causing the delay.
Russ

Looking for 2 tickets for October 1st concert in Erie ,P.A..please advise asap.Thyx,
I was at the LA County Fair Saturday night, along with my husband & eldest son, we had great seats, 5th row center. I still prefer Jackson acoustically, but this was one of the best Jackson & band shows I've seen!
The grandstands were packed, no opening act, they played for a good 2 hours straight and they rocked! Jackson really played to the audience...he was animated and energetic! He seemed genuinely surprised by the enthusiastic audience and was enjoying all the adoration. The crowd loved Jackson and he responded with I love you too!
Here's the set list:
1. The Night Inside Me
2. Fountain Of Sorrow - "a much better song than she deserved..."
3. Somebody's Baby
4. Everywhere I Go - "wrote while roller blading and shopping for snacks..."
5. Barricades of Heaven - where he grew up, but could be about anywhere...
6. Your Bright Baby Blues
7. For Taking The Trouble
8. These Days
9. The Naked Ride Home
10. About My Imagination - still seeing the possibilities
11. Lives In the Balance - very enthusiastic audience response
12. For America
13. I Am A Patriot - another big hit with the crowd
14. Culver Moon - good to see Catherine Russell back, she was outstanding!
15. The Pretender
16. Running On Empty - everyone was on their feet and of course I made my way to the front of the stage along with quite a few others!
1st Encore:
17. Doctor My Eyes
18. Take It Easy
2nd Encore:
19. Load Out
20. Stay
Thanks Russ!
Russ -- You probably already know this, but in response to the person inquiring about the DVD-Audio of Running on empty, I ordered it several months ago, and receive weekly messages from Rhino Records telling me it is still not available. I believe its original release date was last spring, and it keeps getting pushed off. I assume Jackson has simply been too busy with all the additional dates, benefits, touring that he's added to his schedule to finish. Do you have, or can you get, further info. about it?
Webmaster's Reply:
I also put in an order with Rhino Records earlier this year... but I've never received anything from them telling me anything... which has left me rather disappointed in what I usually think of as a pretty good company. As far as I know, the DVD-Audio version of Running On Empty has never had an official release date. I keep reading about release dates -- seems like every article and website (including Rhino's) has a different date! -- and I don't know where these people get their information because Jackson's management keeps telling me that they haven't set a release date yet and don't know when a release date will be set.
I honestly have absolutely no idea what the delay is... but I'm guessing that maybe it has something to do with the fact that Jackson's contract with Elektra has expired and that the rights to the album will revert to him at a certain point. Maybe he gets more of the revenue if he waits until a certain date before releasing this. This is just a wild guess since I really have no idea why it's taking so long and I'm just grasping for some kind of logical reason... which I probably shouldn't do since someone is bound to quote it as fact... If anyone out there really KNOWS anything about this, please write in.
Russ
I was so glad I was at the September 24, 2004, concert in Reno it was an incredible evening. Almost everyone, including Jackson, the band and the audience had a great time. I say almost everyone because there were some members of the audience that were just not able to get in the mood, and they left early & upset because there were so many members of the audience dancing down in front. It is too bad they couldn't relax, enjoy and join in because they missed out on a very special night.
The band never missed a lick, and Jackson's voice was as strong as ever. I can't think of a bad Jackson Browne song, so I didn't write down every song they performed, just enjoyed them as they rolled off the instruments. But the closing song "Load Out/Stay" was magnificently performed. I have been hoping at every concert of his to hear that song live, and my wish finally happened, and it was just a special as I thought it would be. Jackson came out alone, and then one by one the band joined him with their own special parts. The vocalist, Catherine (I apologize if I have the name wrong) was excellent. She did an overall great job and an outstanding job on Culver Moon and Stay, what a treat. The entire band did a great job and really did seem to be having as much fun as the crowd.
Politics - Perusing the previous postings I can see this is a hot topic. It is ironic that a fan of Jackson Browne is so upset that Jackson has a political opinion and is expressing it, given the basis of so many of his songs are about political and world events. But as to the concert, the only mention given to politics (aside from the songs performed i.e. "I am a Patriot" & "For America") was the importance of getting out to vote, and getting the young voters out to vote. That was an important and timely message given the status of our country at this time.
Thank you Russ for the opportunity to comment and all the hard work you must do to keep this web site up and running.
We had the awesome opportunity to be a part of a collective group of positively energetic people for the first Vote for Change concert at McCaw Hall in Seattle on Sept. 27. It was an evening filled with hope for the future and the desire for change. The crowd was so appreciative of the outstanding performances from Keb Mo, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne, Jackson's band and the crew for all their hard work. We were able to listen to songs with a certain message, not typically played in general venues which was an exceptional treat. I would encourage anyone with a vision for the future, for us and our children to attend this concert. It was an experience we will remember for our life time and we do hope for change! Russ, thanks for all your information and time on this site! :)
