GENERAL FAN COMMENTS RE: SEDONA CANCELLATION

I just read a comment (in the September letters) in reference to the Sedona AZ benefit being squashed! The person who was inconvienienced by that fact should really get a life! Do they realize how many people were killed etc........!!!!! Anyone who is an American and a fan truly can understand the reason for stopping the show!! For God sake even baseball was stopped, our lives all stopped in horror!! Everyone needs time to grieve!! Whatever, just my opinion!!!

Thanks for everything

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS RE: SEDONA CANCELLATION

I would just like to comment on the letter from Anne (in the September letters), I believe criticizing Jackson for agreeing to cancell the Sedona show. If you are a true follower of Jackson's you know he would never do anything to offend his fans. He has gone out of his way to do so many benefits for various reasons, it was he who made me decide to be more active in supporting the things I believe in, environmental issues such as restoring wolf populations, keeping certain places wild, trying to keep George Bush (though I do not want to criticize him now, we need to support him at this time) from drilling further into Alaska, and other various issues. Jackson's words are beyond an inspiration to me, they are what helps guide me through my life. I would love to meet him someday, he is one of a kind as far as I'm concerned. His songs have touched so many people, noone can write lyrics that can bring tears to my eyes as Jackson can, he is a gift.

I find it sacriligious to even think of condeming him for what was a good decision.Shame on you!!! We all need to be good to one another now and try to rid the world of the many monsters that have crawled out from the darkness of hate and envy of the free world. Jackson's words and deeds will always be there to guide us and set an example for us all.If youÊcould be half as compassionate and humanitarian as Jackson is, that would be alot. You owe him an apology.Get to it.!!!!!

A LETTER FROM JACKSON BROWNE!

Dear Friends,

It's more important than ever to get all of the information possible regarding current policy decisions and the course our country is taking in response to the threat of terrorism, and the ensuing threats to our freedoms, rights, and way of life. In the spirit of a free exchange of ideas, I'll be posting various writings I come across that are not likely to be carried by the mainstream media in the U.S.

Also, I'd like to encourage you all to listen to NPR, Pacifica Radio (in the parts of the U.S. where it is available), and independent and progressive publications such as The Nation (beginning with the October 8th issue entitled, A Just Response), Harpers, Extra (the newsletter of Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting - FAIR), Z Magazine, The New Yorker, Mother Jones, all of whom are much better at bringing us spirited and thoughtful discourse than most of what passes for news media in these times of 'infotainment.'

There is also a great website which is free to visit and also free of advertising where a great many good articles have been compiled, called www.tompaine.com.

The following address--http://www.guardian.co.uk/Archive/Article/0,4273,4266289,00.html--will take you to a piece written by Arundhati Roy, the gifted author of the novel, The God Of Small Things. She also writes non-fiction, and I've read her book about India's crisis of the proliferation of hydroelectric dams and the displacement of many of its most impoverished rural populations, entitled, "The Cost Of Living." This piece appeared in The Guardian (UK) on Saturday, September 29, 2001.

--Jackson

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS

I just wanted to say to Jackson Browne that I have recently discovered his music and I have been changed forever because of it. I am 30 years old and I have been listening to hard rock and heavy metal my whole life. I am a want-to-be drummer who has been in and out of bands his whole life. I have always played heavy stuff and did not pay much attention to anything else. Recently, I went over to a friend's house and heard this incredible song playing on the stereo. I ask her who the artisit was and what the name of the song we were listening to was called. She said that the artist was Jackson Browne and that the song was called "Sky Blue & Black". From that moment on, I have been the absolute biggest fan of Jackson Browne.

I have discovered that his song lyrics represent the absolute truth in many of the thoughts and feelings that I have had over the years and I could never articulate the sensation in my own words. My wife and I played the song "Two of me, two of you" at our wedding, right before she went walking down the isle and their were many tear-filled eyes!! I have since purchased every "record" that I could get my hands on by Jackson Browne. Songs like "Farther On", "Late For The Sky", "Chasing you into The Light", and "Alive in the World" are amoung the absolute greatest songs ever in the history of the universe (my universe anyway!).

My only regret is that I did not listen to his music in my teenage and young twenties because the music of Jackson Browne might have helped me in the choices that I made and the opinions that I had, especially political. I want to thank Jackson Browne for writing some of the most beatiful music that I have ever heard and giving me many hours of musical enjoyment.

A new, old fan

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS

I've been a Jackson Browne fan ever since 9th grade, back around 1984 or so. Lawyers in Love was the first JB album I heart, and it really stuck with me. Little did I know the best was yet to come! After that, I loved For America and some of his more politically oriented songs. The next decade I enjoyed When I Go Down and the songs on that album, and after that was Sky Blue and Black and those songs, and all the while I was still listening to his 70s stuff. I have been a fan through many years now. Only a very few artists can really touch a person's soul like Jackson Browne (Don Williams is also a talented artist, although I'd say Jackson still has more consistently powerful songs). Probably 5 years ago or so, I introduced my girlfriend to Jackson Browne, and she also loves his music. She's become a tremendous fan. I think Jackson replaced Gordon Lightfoot as her favorite singer.

Jackson is an incredibly talented musician. I hope he's around for many more years. We love ya, Jackson!

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS

I just wanted to take this time to talk some people that feel the same way about Jackson Browne,Êas I do. When I was 23 years old I lost my son and I did not think I would be able to go on. I barricaded myself in my house and in my depression for some time. I honestly believe that if it was not for Jackson and his music and especially his lyrics I mayÊnot have beenÊhere today. Jackson's lyrics touch my soul like no other song writer's ever has, even John Lennon. My son died April 12, 1991 and on that same day in 2000ÊI purchased a T-shirt on E-Bay from his I'm Alive tour. It now hangs in my living room as a symbol of my love for Jackson Browne and a reminder that I am Alive and I can make it through anything, just like Jackson. His birthday would have been November 2nd and at this time of the year I need Jackson more than ever. I just wanted to take this time and thank Jackson Browne.

A quick message from Australia. I've been a Jackson admirer since the first album all those years ago and we here appreciate how tough you people are doing it at the moment. Let the music keep your spirits high and let the buildings keep your children dry.Best of luck to you all.
