GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Russ about 7 yr ago? I read in a Uk music mag like MOJO or Q well known artists gave their year in review of the best music etc they had heard in the past year Jackson was interviewed and his best thing was PATTY GRIFFIN! this was at a time here downunder in Australia before You tube , ipodss , internet had really kicked in so this name was very unfamilar to us. it was when patty had just released "LIVING WITH GHOSTS cd. (I have since read a fans comment that Jackson used to play Pattys cd to the audieces at his shows before he came on stage?) Anyway only this week Patty finally toured Australia for a 8 show tour My wife and I were lucky to catch her at a very small restaurant type venue, only 120 seats. Needless to say it was a great night. only 10 ft from stage.

As many of Jacksons fans might know Patty has a truely amazing voice and is a very gifted songwriter. Jackson thank you for the recommendation.. without it I most likely would not have come across her music.

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hi Russ, I live in LA and listen regularly to a show on KPFK, "Inner vision" w/ Michael Benner. It was on yesterday (Nov. 23), his final show in LA. He is semi-retiring and moving to Maui. Coincidentally, Jackson was at the station for other reasons and stopped by the show and was on air about 15 minutes. It was a lovely conversation/interview and anyone can hear it online for the next 3 months at www.KPFK.org. Click on Archived Shows for 11/23/07, Innervision w/ Michael Benner.

Love your site, I've been a big JB fan since my teens, first time I saw JB perform was 1975 in Topanga Canyon at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum. I believe Jackson's wife was there, he wore glasses and had a bright orange 2002 BMW. I remember that because I had the same car at the time! It was a lovely intimate concert oudoors in a small ampitheater during the summer. Really miss those days!

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hey Russ!

I just wanted to mention that I'm so happy that Jackson and Bonnie are doing the concerts for Edwards. Our corporate media outlets tend to report on the candidate with the biggest buck and that is Clinton right now. I would love to see our political system work and an underdog that I believe in lead the country.

DVD REVIEW: "Larger Than Life: A Celebration of Steve Goodman and His Music"

I am glad to have been alerted to the release of this DVD of a 1997 concert. Mr. Goodman was well-loved. I am sorry, however, to have to say that I really cannot recommend this DVD as a "concert" DVD. It contains 8 songs from 7 performers. The music is good when it finally happens but there is also a fair amount of talking and I found myself wishing they would have included more music. I would classify this DVD as good for collectors of Browne material (or that of the other performers for that matter) but certainly not for someone wanting to simply listen to a good show (as I'm sure it was but we aren't treated to it). I look forward to hearing any other opinions about this release.
