CONCERT REVIEW: May 29, 2011 at State Theatre in Minneapolis, MN - (Rescheduled from May 4th)

Russ;

There's a review of Jackson Browne's performance last Sunday night in Minneapolis on the Star Tribune website, by Jon Bream, complete with set lists.

After seeing the show, I was again amazed at his ability to play and sing so much by memory (I realize Jackson has played some of the songs thousands of times).

It was another great performance, his voice was strong and he seemed very relaxed. One oberservation was that Jackson's older material still seems to be the favorite of the crowd; some newer songs were not as familiar to audience, but they appeared to like them just the same. The Zevon songs were great. Jackson Browne again demonstrated he is one of the elite singer/songwriter/performers of our time.

Thanks for your work on the web site.

CONCERT REVIEW: May 21, 2011 at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Cheers. Thanks. I included below one too wordy, enthusiastic, and adjective-induced paragraph about the Ft. Lauderdale concert I attended with my friend Dale and her son. If any of it's of any use to post re: set list or the like - regardless, thanks again re: Clearwater. Thanks. Derrick

Mesmerizing. Intense. Fun. Sublime. Meticulous, Relaxed, Deliberate, Spontaneous, Passionate, Entertaining...Jackson Browne was in fine concert form as usual last night with magnifique versions of his own hymns, psalms, and anthems (The Pretender, Running on Empty, For Everyman, For A Dancer, Doctor My Eyes, Before the Deluge, his Take It Easy) and perennial favorites (Barricades of Heaven, In The Shape Of A Heart, Looking Into You, Lives In The Balance, Fountain of Sorrow, Sky Blue and Black, Something Fine). Memorable performance of Looking East and a winning Givin' That Heaven Away too. Farther On breathtaking and poignant and Song For Adam cautionary and sobering and more. Songs and performances heartbreaking and life-affirming. The sound of it made for a pitch-perfect experience of words and music. Often cathartic and moving. Striking clarity and nuance in the voice, guitars, and keyboard, in the weight and gravity of Sleep's Dark and Silent Gate and Birds Of St. Marks. Jackson Browne played the dreamlike and pensive Sing My Songs To Me and the healing Here (which he dedicated to his son). Off of Wonderland was a song he wanted to do and he played that one, as well as Rosie too. Enthusiastic and attentive audience.

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hello,

I read with sadness the passing of Jackson's friend, Clarence Clemmons. I was lucky enough to see Bruce in concert two times. The second time was one of the best shows I ever saw. Clarence was as sharp as he could be that night. The E Street Band and music as a whole miss a great musician.
