GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

To Whom It May Concern:

In the 80's Jackson Brown and other well known performers initiated the No Nukes movement aimed at limiting the growth and dependence on Nuclear power in the world. In this decade there is another Nuclear threat facing the world; Nuclear Weapons. In parts the world a false support for the advancement of Nuclear weaponry is being propagandized by governments and dictators as leaders and governments position themselves for both local and global recognition.

Jackson Brown and other performers can again awaken the youth and general populations of the world by initiating another No Nukes movement. This movement may prevent future conflicts and save lives. In many ways I disagree with the positioning of celebrities in the endorsement of political parties. But a movement of this type provides a broad message and can only lead to a positive end.

No Nukes...

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hi Russ,

It's been a while since I've written to you, but I just wanted to say Happy New Year, and Thanks!!! for the site. It's great to be able to get on and read what other Jackson fans have to say, and check out the news and concert info.

This last year I had the chance to see Jackson and David Lindley in Spain, in a little medieval town called SOS de Los Reyes Catolicos, at the Luna Lunera Festival. It was an unbelieveable experience. Not only did my husband go with me (he's not really a fan, but went to please me), but we met a woman named Maria, who was Jackson's translator in Madrid, and her friend Stephanie, who had just come from seeing him, and was on her way after the show to Scotland (I think) to see him there. Anyway, it was a great adventure. We had no tickets, and grabbed the bus from Zaragoza, thinking it would be about a half hour away. Two hours + later, we got to this little town, where the temperature was about 50 degrees F. There was one little bar/cafe, and everybody had the same idea, to get something to eat before the show, which started about 10. Then we climbed this kind of scaffolding to the concert, where it was even colder than at street level. Our seats weren't any good, but our new friends let me 'borrow' their front row seat, for part of the show. I was sitting about 10 feet away from Jackson, and could even read the Playlist. The only bad thing was, I had a new camera, and none of my pictures turned out. Other than that, we had an unbelieveable time. When the concert was over about 2 in the morning, we boarded the bus, and headed back down to Zaragoza, exhausted and happy. We were sight seeing in Barcelona and Madrid, and if it hadn't been for Jackson, would never have seen either Zaragoza or SOS. I love that he has concerts in these off the beaten path, really cool places.

If either Maria or Stephanie sees this, I'd love to hear from you. Maybe we can meet up for other concerts this year. I can't wait!

007 is bound to be a good year! Thanks Russ!!!

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

I'm really happy to hear that Jackson is going to sue Federated Department Stores over the copyright infringement of his name and image.

I've just finished working for the holidays at Macy's. It was my first foray into the world of retail. While there I learned about Federated. For those of you who don't know, Federated owns both Bloomingdale's and Macy's. It is a corporation that is worth approximately 93 billion dollars. What they are doing is going around the country buying up smaller "finer" department store chains and turning them into Macy's. As I've told my friends, this is not good. If Federated succeeds they will become the WalMart of the finer department stores. They will control what we wear and the price of clothing.

I view what they have done Jackson to be a huge indication of what I've been telling people for the past six weeks. Federated is becoming more powerful and they feel they can do whatever they want to do.

Go get um Jackson! Good luck and I hope you get a huge chunk of their money.

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Because John Trudell is appearing with Jackson and Willie Nelson in LA in 2/07 I thought I would offer some thoughts on John. I am a South Dakotan who grew up near and have returned to an area by Pine Ridge. I was around during the AIM times but too young to fully comprehend it. Our PBS broadcast the movie "Trudell" last year and it stuck in my head. When I saw that he was doing the concert I knew I would have to go see them/him. I do not have all of John's recordings nor will I detail all of his story. You can go to www.trudellthemovie.com to get more. Because this site has a Jackson focus I will talk about John's work from that perspective.

"Trudell" is now out on DVD. It chronicles John's story with a good mix of historical footage, interviews, performances, and interesting visual imagery. Politics, AIM/Alcatraz, environmental, Native/Western culture, and poetry/music themes intertwine. Briefly appearing are Jackson--especially in the segment on Jesse Ed Davis in which Jackson is interviewed and seen performing briefly with the band during "Hanging On The Cross". Bonnie Raitt is briefly interviewed as is Kris Kristofferson and Amy Ray, among others. Kris sings the final credits song "Johnny Lobo" but is not shown.

The CDs "AKA Grafitti Man" and "Blue Indians" both have Jackson involved. He sings harmonies on 1 song on each. Kris K. also sings on the Grafitti CD. Jackson may have participated in other recordings but I don't know. Other musicians involved in these CDs are Jesse Ed Davis, Mark Shark, Bob Glaub, Wally Ingram, Scott Thurston, Billy Payne, Michael Utley, and Luis Conte (among others).

Grafitti Man struck me as giving more equal weight to melody and poetry (Trudell is not a singer--he performs poetry to music). That may be due to Jesse Ed's involvement. Blue Indians seems sparer with the music highlighting the poetry. The words drew my attention better and lingered longer. I especially liked the song "Blue Indians" with Jackson doing what I call his "bluesier" singing in backup. So even though Dylan called Grafitti Man "one of the best albums of the year" I prefer the other. Amazon samples both so check it out and make up your own mind.

A 2nd DVD called "Incident at Oglala (The Leonard Peltier Story)" has NO appearances by Jackson but does have lots of John interviews. The soundtrack lists Jackson, Craig Doerge, Mark Shark, Quiltman as some of the musicians. Jackson and John are listed as music consultants and Jackson/Craig are listed as doing the synthesizer score. This DVD is a retelling of the criminal case and I can't recommend it as a soundtrack (no Jackson singing/songs) BUT the case of Peltier is internationally known and may be of interest to others.

Thanks for your site,

CONCERT REVIEW: January 16, 2007 at Temple Bar in Santa Monica, CA

I mentioned to Jackson that I really appreciated that he got two great groups to the Temple Bar in two months and that I really appreciated that. The show last night was one of the most fun ones I've ever been to. And for $5.00!

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hello,

After spending months trying to get plans in order I have finally made travel arrangements for the Avila Beach concert. As Oklahoma is hell and gone from sunny California, I'm needing some help finding some tickets. I'm looking for 2 tickets, prefrerrably with reserved or table seating for myself and my sainted husband who is once again indulging my Jackson obsession. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me at laur32j@aol.com

Thank You,
