GENERAL FAN COMMENTS: A Letter To Jackson

Mr. Jackson Browne,

I am at this moment listening to one of my favorites , the JB "The Pretender" CD. The track that's playing as I write this is Linda Paloma .. so I'm taking my time between sips of a good Cabernet while the tracks play on. The wine and the music complement each other in a way that only JB fans can appreciate. That "feeling of peace" is wonderful .. especially in this time of stress and strife. I lost my brother in the World Trade Center attack on 9-11 and the peaceful days are at a premium now I can tell you. I put on this CD, and immediately my mindset changed to a more mellow center. I can't and never can explain why, but Jackson always did that to me. I must confess, I've listened a lot to music over the past 2 years, but not many of my old "dusty" albums and CD's. I don't know why, but I just lost interest after 9-11. It's only after two-plus years that I've finally found my center and started listening & playing my guitar again. JB is a center of peace. Maybe not in a religious sense, but certainly in a storyteller's way. He tells the story of emotions. And those emotions are real and relate to mature and thinking human beings.

I saw JB in Portland Maine at the Portland Civic Center in August 1996. My wife's dog had died the day we left on vacation a few days before. There was nothing we could do except continue our plans, go on vacation and drink and boat (Long Lake & Lake Sebago). My wife said (unprompted a few moments ago as I asked her "what was the date we saw JB in Portland") as I typed this "That concert was the only thing that cheered me up". She had no idea what I was writing here ! I can attest to that feeling, as she cried on and off for days as we boated some of the most beautiful waters in the country. She forgot her sorrow completely during the JB concert in Portland. To this day I marvel at the affect you have on people through your story's and music. We didn't plan to see you that week end. We just heard about the show on the radio on the way towing my boat up route 91 in Massachusetts. I called on a whim from my cell phone, not expecting to make that show. We got our tickets .. It turned out to be one of the most memorable and meaningful shows in my and my wife's lives. It is what makes Jackson Browne most unique in the annals of artistry. Someone who evokes emotion in a way that brings peace and introspective nostalgia. He's a true artist who's artistry will live on for that reason. Today that music and that moment mean more to me than it did on that date. The lyrics, the feeling and the remembrance .. all just leave me with a feeling of both loss and feeling. I can't think of another artist that affects me that way.

Thanks for the moments.. they mean a lot and can never be repaid.

Hi Russ, wonder if you could post the following for me on the message board.

If Eve Laine, in Paris, reads this could she please e-mail Richard Fullbrook in England as I have recently lost all my e-mail addresses and am unable to contact her until she contacts me.

Eve, hope you see this and hope to hear from you soon.

Regards

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hi Russ. If you would please post the following, I would appreciate it.

3 Seats Available For The Beacon

A friend of mine just called to tell me that she purchased more tickets than she needs for Jackson's March 16, 2004 show at the Beacon Theater in New York. If you are visiting this site, you don't need me to tell you that this show will take place the night after Jackson is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Jackson will perform solo acoustic and with band for what promises to be a unique evening of celebrating his contributions and accomplishments. So, with that said, my friend has the following tickets available: Loge, Row F, Seats 18-22. Of course, she is only looking for what she paid, which is $182.65 total for all 3 seats (about $60 each.) If you are interested, please send me an email and I will put you in touch with her immediately.

Thank you.

Hi Russ,

If you would, please post my request for a single good seat to the Beacon Theater show if someone has one to sell. It seems that it was impossible to get any good seats through Ticketmaster for this show. Any help from Jackson fans would be certainly appreciated.

Anyone with info on getting a good single seats or has one extra to sell should email me at Jkjsmith99@aol.com

Thanks

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

We're traveling up to NYC in March to be part of the energy surrounding Jackson's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We have two extra tickets to his March 16th show at the Beacon Theatre. They are in Section LOGE, Row D, Seats 17, 19. I'm hoping to put these in the hands of a true Jackson Browne fan for the price I paid. Who would DARE try to make a profit off of Jackson Browne anyway??!!?? Please contact me if you're interested and we'll work out the particulars.

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hi, Russ. Thank you for all that you do! I have two pair of tickets that I would like to sell for the sold out New York show, March 16th at the Beacon Theater. The first pair is in the loge section, Row C, seats 22 and 24 (together). The second pair is also in the loge section, Row E, seats 37 and 39 (together). Including all of the Ticketmaster extras, I paid 122.95 for each pair, and that is all I'm asking...I'll even pay the postage. If you're interested in these very good seats (sold in pairs only) please e-mail me at johnb866@aol.com

I expect the tickets in the mail very soon, and immediately upon receipt of money order or clearance of buyer's checks, will sent them out.

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hi everyone, just seen that ticketmaster.com are selling tickets for a UK tour date in York, England and on the website it says that he has dates in York and Dublin, Ireland. It also says that additional tour information can be posted at any time, i want to book tickets for the York concert but it is 4 hours away from where I live so if any concerts are going to be held in my area I would rather go there. So i just wondered whether anyone had any information on the planned 2004 UK Solo tour and whether it is likely that other dates across the UK are likely to be announced soon? or if these two dates are the only ones happening?

Any information would be great.

Thanks

Webmaster's Reply:

Jackson's management will not confirm the two dates in York and Dublin (as of Jan 18th). They tell me that a full European tour is in the planning stages and that all dates and locations are still subject to change until the full tour has been lined up. So the people that are selling tickets for these two shows have "jumped the gun". Of course, if those dates don't change, then the tickets are good, so I'd get tickets now if you plan to attend. Just keep in mind that the dates are still subject to change.

There will definitely be other dates in the U.K. and Europe. I'm hoping to have that information sometime soon. Jackson's management understands the fans' desire to have that information as soon as possible, but they don't like giving out information that is still subject to change as it can lead to great disappointment.

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS: A Letter To Jackson

Dear Mr. Browne,

As I sit here by the ocean and listen to your songs, can't help to shed tears and cry from deep inside my heart. Your music stirs so much emotion and tears in me.

I have been a lonely man for so many years without a mother and father and relatives. I have been carrying my life on my own for so many years but it is your music that I always connected with.

I saw you at Jones Beach concert in NY and I loved it.

So, Mr, browne, thank you for the "fountain of sorrows"

Thank you and may the sun shine on you forever my friend.

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Russ - I am writing to you in hopes that the thought gets out there. Maybe someone has already had this suggestion, but I haven't seen it anywhere yet. I think Jackson's management should think about doing a DVD of his 'celebration' concert in the Becaon Theater in NYC for his induction into the "R&R Hall of Fame". That would be a real treat for his fans that aren't able to be there like I know you all want to be! Even better would be to have as a start to the DVD his actual induction. And I agree with you - I'd like to see Bonnie Raitt give his introduction.

I wanted to get this into writing in hopes that it will be seen by someone who may have 'the power' to do something.

I was really impressed that Jackson's management seemed to respond to all of the California fans wanting a tour. Maybe they submitted something officially - I don't know - but it wasn't long after some e-mails posted on your website that they announced the California tour. So..... I am hoping.

And for the person wanting to know if the Hall of Fame Ceremony will be televised, I believe that VH1 is carrying it.

Thanks - as always - for all that you do for us JB fans Russ. I know I appreciate this website, and visit almost daily!

I also hope that Jackson will visit the Northeast again - whats on the agenda for the summer? I, for one, can never get enough Jackson!!

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hello Russ,

Thank you again for keeping this page up and going. Just wanted to post a hearing, not a sighting. This isn't for political discussion, but JB's music stands out.

Democratic NH vote -- Did anybody watch the after vote speeches? Well, Kerry had, I think, Bruce playing, and when DEAN walked off the stage without his wife being there, I heard DR. MY EYES in the background. ( Was it because his doctor wife wasn't there? He likes JB? What?) Now he's not my choice, but when I hear a JB song covered on TV, my ears perk up. Wonder if JB will vote for Nader again?

I'm not posting this to start a political debate....just posting a "hearing", instead of a "sighting. OK

I'm also glad for all the people who will get to see Jackson in 2004. I made it to 3 concerts, ..... 2 with band and 1 acoustic..........Cleveland, Atlanta, and DC.

I'll be waiting for a swing south again in the future.

Enjoy the time spent with music.
