GENERAL FAN COMMENTS: Tickets Available

Hi Russ,

I've got 2 spare tickets for Jackson's gig at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on April 2nd, 3 rows from the front. If anyone is interested, could they drop me an e-mail at stevewilsonmus@aol.com. Face value plus booking fee is all I'm after.

Many thanks,

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hi Russ!! Did anyone attent the Ball in Washington, where Jackson appeared with Graham Nash? I didn't hear anything about that.

Just a note from Saturday's edition of the Toronto Star. They did a close-up, on Blue Rodeo's front man Jim Cuddy. This is a truly great Canadian band, been around for 30 years. Anyway,in the article they asked Cuddy, "Who most influenced you as a musician"? His answer, "Paul McCartney, I feel that he's one of the most underappreciated geniuses in music. I also looked to JACKSON BROWNE from a pure songwriting point of view." Quite a tribute to two superstars, aye? See ya later Russ.

Hi Bob,

I'm sorry but I have not heard from anyone who attended the ball in Washington.

There is this one short clip on YouTube from someone with a cell phone:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhpFp46lqkI
It shows Jackson Browne and Graham Nash being joined by Congressman John Hall on guitar.

That's all I've seen or heard about that show.

Thanks for the quote from Jim Cuddy. Very cool.

Best wishes,

Russ

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

Hi Russ,

2 weeks now till my husband son and I see Jackson in Sydney. My son has loved "Somebody's Baby" since he was about 15 he is now 23 and we are hoping he will play it in Sydney also "Doctor My Eyes".

Anyway hope he plays a lot of his hits.

My son went with a friend and his father to see Bob Dylan last year and he played a load of crap from a new album, none of the songs he was remembered for.

I think it is very sad when artists dissapoint their fans by not playing the songs that sold their albums and think that is what their fans have paid to come and hear.

Do you have any idea of Jackson's play list for is Australian leg of the tour?

Well the count down is on can't wait.

Webmaster's Reply:

Hi Marg,

I do not know what the playlist will be for Jackson's Australian Tour.

When Jackson toured in the U.S. this past fall, the tour was called the "Time the Conqueror Tour" and his playlist was very heavily leaning towards the songs from the Time the Conqueror release. Jackson's website still is referring to this coming tour as the "Time the Conqueror World Tour", so again I would expect to hear many songs from the new CD.

He did play "Doctor My Eyes" on the recent U.S. tour, but did not perform "Somebody's Baby". He included songs from throughout his career: a few songs from his '70s albums, a couple of songs from his '80s albums, and a few from his '90s albums. The band he has been touring with is the band that has been with him for the past 15+ years, so they do lean heavily on material from "Looking East" and "The Naked Ride Home" as well as "Time the Conqueror".

It will be interesting to see what they choose to perform in Australia. Have a wonderful time at the show.

Russ

GENERAL FAN COMMENTS:

This is in response to Mary J's frustration in buying tickets. I, too, have experienced problems with concerts in general, but most recently, in getting tickets for Jackson's Texas show in October. I tried the ticketmaster pre-sale beginning at the moment tickets went on sale. After trying all day, the best I could get was about halfway back in the theatre off to the side. I did purchase tickets the following day when they went on sale to the general public; this time I was able to get center seats but they were still halfway back. I know these seats are not bad but they are not nearly as good as the seats I bought the last time I saw Jackson at the same venue (when I ended up with two sets of tickets... the ones I bought later were far better than the ones I bought on the pre-sale.). Of course, I'm hoping there are just so many Jackson fans out there that the tickets were going fast but from what I've experienced in the past couple of years with ticketmaster is that those who have the best seats in the house get them through ticket brokers and pay astronomical prices for them. I wish all artists would go to a "will-call" policy only; I've heard from friends who have bought tickets for these shows that they really cut down on the scalping of tickets and allow true fans to have the best seats at face value price.

CONCERT REVIEW: February 25, 2009 at The Civic, THE EDGE in Auckland, New Zealand

Hi Russ.

First many thanks for providing this opportunity to express my views.

Secondly. To Jackson if he's listening. Thanks for a wonderful show and for giving us such great songs over the years.

I've been following Jackson since the beginning and have seen him on a number of occasions.I've never been disappointed. The Auckland show was the first of the present leg. J.B.very relaxed and voice in fine shape. I can't remember the exact set list, but was a good mixture with only three from the new album.

One of the high points for me was Alethea Mills and Chavonne Morris on backing vocals. Ladies you were SENSATIONAL.. Worth the price of admission alone. In particular on "Lives in the balance."

The purpose of this letter was to point out the only slight negative. Not the band, show, sound or set list. But the some what subdued response from the audience. Perhaps it's an age thing. But they never really warmed up and showed any appreciation until it was too late.I'm not talking dancing in the aisles or calling out for songs. Silence during songs is good but a toe tap or head nod is good. Just get up and clap at the end of songs.Or perhaps move a body part to show it was reaching you. I'm sure the band were looking for and would appreciate some feed back from us.We may even have gotten one more song. Time will conqueror us all eventually and who knows when or if we will see these guys again. It was a similar response at the Neil young concerts in Australia. So it's over to you Aussies to show you care. Enjoy.

Once again Jackson thank you for giving us great joy over the years. Please come back again and bring those girls too.

CONCERT REVIEW: February 27, 2009 at Brisbane Riverstage in Brisbane, Australia

We have just attended the Jackson Browne concert in Brisbane,Australia. The back-up singers were brilliant, the back up musos exceptional.Jackson,on the other hand, was lack lustre and boring. He looked like he wanted to be somewhere else.I even noticed him yawning a couple of times..I have seen Jackson a few times before. He was always good/great etc.But tonight, alas,he was dull dull dull.Shame.Tim Freedman was wonderful,Richard Clapton exceptional,Toni Childs,Im sorry to say,was truly awful.I can honestly say that I have never been to a performance where an artist was this bad..In one song she missed her opening twice!Just my opinion.

CONCERT REVIEW: February 28, 2009 at Tempus Two Winery in Hunter Valley, Australia

Hi Russ

saw Jackson last night (28 Feb) at Tempus Two winery in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. It's my sixth time of seeing him in Australia and again he didn't disappoint.

His songs (not in order ) included - the Boulevard ( the opener), Time The Conqueror, The Barricades Of Heaven, Fountain of Sorrow, These days, Going Down To Cuba, Lives in the Balance, Running On Empty, Culver Moon, The Pretender, Rosie (after MANY requests from others), Doctor My Eyes segued into???, one or two others from Time the Conqueror and finished with The Load Out/Stay.

Mark Goldenberg was outstanding and the addition of the two singers has added another dimension to his music. The new arrangement of Lives in the Balance has transformed the song into another dimension. Yes, i'm a fan but I also go to lots of concerts and have lots to compare against. The new tour is WELL WORTH seeing. Jackson for 1 hr 50 mins but with Toni Childs, Richard Clapton and Tim Freedman each doing a set prior

and for the record..I've previously seen discussion on where the songs for the Solo Acoustic album were recorded. For Everyman was recorded at the State Theatre in Sydney, 13 April 2004. I remember the intro about Sydney having just been voted the best city to live

keep up the good work
