I have two extra tickets for the Jackson Browne celebration concert at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. They are in the orchestra row X side by side seats 5, 7. I live in Washington, D.C. and I would prefer to sell them to a DC fan, as it would be easier to get them to somebody here, but I would consider selling them to anyone who would not dream of missing that concert. If interested, please contact me for further details.

Thanks,
First of all this is my first time finding this web-site and Iam so happy I did. Second, if anyone wants to sell a ticket to the show in New York, I really want to go. I just moved from Colorado to Boston. So I have noone to go with, but it would be a dream come true to be able to see this performance.
Third,...I wanted to say that for those of us who listen to J.B, we know he is sometimes our only source of mental clarity. IT IS AMAZING HOW A PERSON CAN TELL A STORY, TO BEAUTIFUL MUSIC, AND TOUCH SO MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE.....IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. I have been listening to J.B probably since I was born, because of my mom. I am now 25, a mother myself and have come to realize after seeing J.B at Fiddlers Green last year, that I don't know another man to surround a situation, and make it come alive the way he does. Now, I have moved away, so that my husband can have a chance to follow his dream of starting his own business, but I have left behind my beautiful state and all of my friends and family....and my J.B. buddy (my mother). I play piano and guitar and I've been playing like crazy since I've moved (another form of therapy). But If I could say anything to that man (J.B) I would say LOOKING INTO YOU, HAS TOUCHED ME LIKE NO OTHER. YOU HAVE SEALED A BOND BETWEEN MY MOTHER AND ME. AND I WISH I COULD EXPRESS HOW IMPORTANT HEARING YOUR VOICE IS TO MY MOTHER AND I. THANK YOU, AND I KNOW YOU HEAR THAT A LOT BUT THANK YOU AGAIN.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE HAS AN EXTRA TICKET FOR SALE FOR NY SHOW!!!!!!
Hello fellow Jackson fans,
I am thrilled beyond belief that I will be there to celebrate Jackson's show after his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame....it will be truly an honor. It was extremely difficult to get tickets, I would have liked to have been closer......but just being in the same theatre as a talent so unequalled as Jackson's is mind-blowing enough.. I have seen him twice before, both times felt honored to be in attendance...Jackson is such a musical gift to the world........I adore him totally. We will be playing Jackson's music on the drive down to NYC...at FULL blast!!!!
May all of us join together and congratulate this remarkable man who has brought us so much........personally he has been my inspiration in many low times.....we love you Jackson!!!! Rock on Sweetheart.........you are one of a kind. On a note.........We love and miss you to Mr. Warren Zevon...!!!!!
Most sincerely,
Russ- I'm sure you pitch lots of mail out, but please hold out this one.I am 40...have NEVER sent an e-mail or fan letter out in my life.I was going through some old music books in a trunk, dusting off my guitar, sifting through tons of stuff myself and friends have written, along with all these books. One was from 1976...Jackson Browne 21 songs for guitar and piano. If you do nothing else, please pass along that the Saturate before using album with Jamacia say you will...Something fine..and Looking into you is one of the finest, deepest, pieces of music I have.It was the 1st CD I bought, and almost missed the scratches of the album I played over and over.I don't have everything Jackson Browne has ever done- a few are not my favorite. But for whatever it's worth, I want him to get the message that there's a 40 yr. old dusting off musics books playing by the ocean....really believing his writing is about the best. "Just do the steps that you've been shown. By everyone you've ever known. Until the dance becomes your very own. No matter how close to yours. Anothers steps have grown. In the end there is the one dance you'll do alone. That's some fine writing. Thanks Russ....I know you'll let an old lady by the sea get her message through.

Actually, I don't "pitch lots of mail out" and I'm happy to post your letter. I post nearly every letter that comes in unless it is vulgar or rude. I also won't post letters about bootlegs or the selling of personal merchandise. But 99 percent of the email I receive is posted here within a few days, without editing. (I do reserve the right to edit comments that are inflamatory or use language that isn't appropriate.)

At the risk of sounding entirely absurd, I'd like to ask if anybody has an available ticket/invite to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on March 15th at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City, at which our beloved Jackson will be inducted. Since I live only thirty minutes outside of NYC, late notice would be no problem. I'd give most anything to witness this momentous occasion firsthand!
The person who made the suggestion that this concert should be recorded for posterity is absolutely correct. I live in the UK, and work in the Sahara desert, and have no chance of getting to this event. It will be a concert to remember, and as such should be comitted to DVD. Can you enquire of Jackson's record company if this is a possibility, and advise us via this website. Thanks.
Regards,
Hi Russ from Australia. A huge "Thankyou" for your website as here in Australia we don't get to hear anything about Jackson Browne. It seems the only songs you occassionally hear on the radio are "Take it easy" and "Stay" - a crying shame when there are so many wonderful songs from many albums! Jackson's music has been on my record player and now cd player since 1976 - aged 13.When times are tough his music pulls me through. I have managed to see him in concert 3 times - 1986/1996/2003)....last years concert at the Sydney Opera House was so fantastic that I still have a smile on my face when I think about it a year later. When I see all the concerts that American fans get to attend I weep...so I could not believe it when I seen a proposed spring tour of Australia for 2004 on your website. To see Jackson twice in 2 years is beyond my comprehension. I have been praying to the Gods that this tour eventuates - so on behalf of Jackson's multitude of Australian fans - please, please please may we see Jackson "Down Under" this year.
regards and thanks again
Hi Russ - Thanks again for all your great work! I would like to make a plea to the powers that be to bring Jackson's solo acoustic tour to the Great Pacific Northwest. In these past couple of years he has taken this tour to the midwest, east coast, Australia, Japan, and Europe twice, but not once performed his wonderful solo magic here. Thanks!
A devoted Jackson Fan
Thanks for the great web site. I am thrilled that Jackson will be touring here in Australia twice in just two years, especially seeing him performing Solo. I last saw him in Brisbane at the Lyric Theatre on 14 Feb 2003. What a fantastic concert and venue. Heres hoping he will perform somewhere in Queensland again, just as intimate in 2004.
Russ: Could you please post this message on the February boards?

If anyone out there has two tickets to Jackson's sold out show in Escondido, Ca. on March 9. I would like to purchase them from you.
thanks,
Well I can't believe I've never noticed JB (as you all seem to call him) before! I've heard his songs such as "Stay" and "Doctor My Eyes" for ever but just not paid attention, it was background music. I'm in my early fifties and feel I've been missing out.
The other day "Stay" (the short version) was playing and I was absolutely mesmerised. Now I can't get enough of him and find he's playing in Bristol, UK in November - only an hour's trip away! Will be booking seats in the next few days without fail. I see he's got a new album out in March, close enough to my birthday, I can't wait.
A late convert, trying not to be too gushing!
Webmaster's Reply:
I don't remember ever hearing Jackson Browne referred to as "JB" in a live conversation. I think people are just using this as shorthand here on the Internet, although I could be wrong.
I never personally refer to Jackson as "JB" since that would also include Joan Baez, Jeff Beck, John Beland, John Belushi, James Brown, Jimmy Buffett, Jerry Butler and many others. However, the Internet has led to a great deal of shorthand in our society, so referring to Jackson Browne as "JB" is something that is going to be common among his fans when emailing among each other.
Russ
I'm opening the site everymorning at work ( first thing I do ) in the hope they added a gig in Belgium ( or 2 , or 3 .... ). So please Jackson don't forget this small country !!
This is Dick from Omaha. My wife and I will be in NYNY for the March 16th concert. We don't know Manhattan well but would like to pre party with Jackson Browne minded people. Is there a great bar that we all could go to a few hours prior to the show? It should be close to the Beacon. Anyone interested should contact me or just post it with Russ. We need someone who knows the towne and has a good idea of where to go. AA members welcome but be prepared to watch fellow JB freaks drink.
I've been a JB fan since 1973, when I first heard "Red Neck Friend". (I remember hearing "Doctor My Eyes" on the radio but didn't like it much....... I came to understand the song but the arrangement still bothers me to this day). But what cemented my love for his music was the Pretender LP. There are so many songs from his first four albums that go straight to my emotional core...... they reached in so deep that even to this day I still can't listen to many of those songs without crying. I like this website and it's good to know there's other Browne fans out there who still share their love of his music. I'm still a happy idiot, struggling for the legal tender.......
I'm glad there is a decent 2-disc set coming out of his music, but I was hoping for a full-blown 4-CD box set....... I see "Lawyers In Love" didn't make the cut...... too bad... I love the biting humor in that one.
There is one thing that seems to have survived over 30 plus years, that alternately amuses me and irritates me at the same time: the continual reference to Browne's first LP for Asylum as "Saturate Before Using". Look at the label of the album and it says "Jackson Browne". That album was his self-titled debut. The words "Saturate Before Using" were merely part of the design of the waterbag! Why a waterbag has to be saturated is something I've never understood... LOL! But the "Saturate" myth still persists, and I think Asylum perpetuated it when the CD was released. I, for one, would love to see this settled once and for all......... but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
"the laughter of the lovers as they run through the night, leaving nothing for the others but to choose off and fight...... and tear at the world with all their might..." - J.B.

This is one of those things that really irritates me as well. Jackson Browne's first album came out in January 1972. The title was simply "Jackson Browne". However, the cover design included a photo of a water bag with the words "Saturate Before Using" on it. Since that time, many people have mistakingly called the album "Saturate Before Using". If you visit the "RealAudio Clips" Section of this website, you'll see that the first sound byte is Jackson talking with Gary Burden, who was the art director for that album cover. That's Gary laughing in the background as Jackson tells the story. Jackson was concerned about using this photo on the cover because he was afraid that people might think "Saturate Before Using" was the title of the album and Gary assured him that this would never happen. Of course, now even Elektra Records thinks that this is the name of the album as they put it on the spine of the CD release of this album!!
Why does the water bag need to be saturated? If you had lived in the Western U.S. in the early to mid part of the 20th Century you would know that these water bags were used by people driving through the desert, to help keep the engine cool. People would saturate the bag with water and then hang it in front of the car so that the air passing through or around it would pick up the condensation and help keep the engine cool. Modern radiators and coolant have taken their place and they are no longer used. A mini waterbag looking like the album cover was a novelty item used to help promote the release. They occasionally show up in places like eBay.
You can hear Jackson discussing his first album cover in the the wonderful DVD "Under The Covers" which includes interviews with Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Glenn Fry, Don Henley and many others. I highly recommend this wonderful program about the making of album covers for albums Jackson, Eagles, Doors, Crosby Stills & Nash, America and many others. Click here to purchase "Under The Covers" from Amazon.com.
And about the song "Lawyers In Love"... I'm also a bit surprised that it didn't make the cut. It was one of Jackson's biggest hits in the U.S., reaching into the top 15. However, Jackson hasn't performed it much lately. It could be that the he feels that the references to the USSR are outdated, but I think it more likely that Jackson felt the song was misunderstood. Back in 1983 when the song was on the charts I heard an interview where he complained that people were missing the sarcasm in the song. Possibly more of us "got" this song than he thought! I'd be curious to know if it was Jackson or the record company that cut this one...
Russ
I'm looking for 2 tickets to the March 28th show in Santa Barbara which is sold out. If anyone has extra tickets or can't attend, please let me know - it would be much appreciated!!
Thanks!
in response to the guy looking for a bar to meet up at before the beacon show. i suggest all thirsty ticket holders to meet at "the dead poet". it's a couple blocks from the beacon and is a cool little bar that jackson fans i think probably would like.
I encourage all fans to read the current cover story of Performing Songwriter magazine showcasing Jackson Browne, as highlighted in the news section of this website (thanks for the notice, Russ). The lengthy article contains several vintage photos as well as sidebars on a half dozen stories behind the songs (including Late For The Sky, For Everyman, and Your Bright Baby Blues) and some insight into the song selection on the new 2-CD set. The interview-style article portrays Jackson as humble with regards to his Hall of Fame selection, loyal to his music and his fans, and best of all, still working at putting out his best album yet! While we, his fans, may think he has reached creative peaks at various times throughout his career, Jackson continues to develop and hone a craft at which he clearly excels. Let the music keep our spirits high, for there appears to be new Jackson songs arriving in the years to come.
I was wondering if anybody had 2 tickets they were ineterested in selling for the March 6th Royce Hall Auditorium show in Los Angeles.
First, thanks so much Russ for this website. I discovered it a bunch of years ago and visit it pretty frequently. I, like so many others, have been a Jackson fan since 1972 when I had to specially order his first album from my local record store. I have seen him many times but have always wanted close up seats. My dream has finally come true! I have fifth row center seats for the San Jose, CA concert on March 20. I am so excited!
However, I have four extra tickets that I purchased before my dream seats so I am looking to sell them. They are in the center of the 31st row of the orchestra and are $46 each (55 with all the service charges but I can waive those!). If anyone wants to buy two or four, please contact me. The concert is on Saturday, March 20 and is solo acoustic. Just let me know and thanks!
If lightening happens to strike in the same place twice and you have a strange urge to see who wants to post within the next ten minutes, do you mind posting.
I was unable to fly out for JB's tour opening concert tonight (Feb 27) at Ceasar's. I purchased guacomole fund seats for $300 (front table). If anyone can use the tickets, I will discount. Don't know what face value is, but we can work something out. The good news is that the tickets are at Will Call so I can arrange to have them picked up. Hope they don't go to waste. I am so bummed I am missing the concert. If anybody is interested, please call me on my cell at 305 321 0444.
Russ - like the many others who have posted messages here, let me convey the common sentiment of.... "great website." Thanks for taking the time to make, and maintain, such a great vehicle for JB fans to communicate through.
It seems like JB, and/or his management, check these postings because they have responded with action regarding some of the requests. In that same spirit, may a respectfully suggest for JB to come out with a live solo CD and or DVD. In my opinion, Jackson Browne is in his best element when he is alone, on his instrument of choice, delivering his raw emotion through his lyrics and voice. He has come out with many compilations of "remastered" or "remixed" prior material, but he has yet to come out with the quintessential representation of his singer/songwriter talents; a live solo CD and/or DVD.
A DVD of his NYC show at the Beacon, the day after being inducted into the Hall of Fame, would sell 250,000 units the same week it was released. It is the kind of product his fan base has been craving for, and I think will become an immediate classic. I've been a fan for almost 35 years, and I hope JB still has it in him for another 35. That said, with the passing of Warren this year, I would hate to see JB's exceptional singer/songwriter talent never being offered in its purist, most authentic form. That almost was the case with Johnny Cash. If not for his collaborations with Rubin at the end of his career, that genuine "soul" of Johnny Cash might never have been offered to the music public. See you at the Beacon, Jackson!!
Will try to be at Dead Poet on Jackson Show Night..........we are so excited.coming down from Syracuse, New York........how about our snow!!!!!!!!
I am so excited to see Jackson after his long-overdue induction.........." Let the music keep our spirits high"..............We Love You Jackson......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Russ, I was fortunate to have seen Jackson the last two nites at Caesar's Tahoe. He played 35 songs total for the two shows with only five being repeated, giving us a nice selection of his material. He was quite chatty both nights, telling stories about his life and the way some songs were written. The crowds both nights were appreciative and respectfull. At the end of Farther On he messed up the words, and quickly put a huge grin on his face and regrouped. Kinda of a neat moment. I traveled 2500 miles to see both shows and had the added bonus of seeing Lake Tahoe. What a beautiful place. It was a great experience all around. This is a must see show. As always Russ, thanks much for your site and your hard work.
