CONCERT REVIEW: November 30, 2009 at Bass Concert Hall in Austin, TX

Jackson was in great form last night in Austin. After over 30 years of seeing him in concert, this was my first solo show. I was not disappointed. Bass Hall is a great venue with excellent acoustics and comfortable seating. I sat on the 9th row near the center. Although not a sellout (2,900), I would guess the crowd at about 2,500.

He was really complimentary of Austin and its music scene. He said he had been fitted for a pair of boots earlier in the day and that he would move to Austin if it had an ocean. Thanks for providing this great forum for Jackson Browne news!

TV CONCERT REVIEW: HBO Broadcast of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary at Madison Square Garden in New York City

Russ,

I have been watching the 25th Rock and Roll Anniversary on HBO for a couple of days and would like to offer a partial review.

In my opinion, most of us Jackson fans would gravitate towards CSN, JT and Bonnie Raiit.

With that said, CSN just tore it up for their set. They started with a re-worked Woodstock, in which Stills guitar was fabulous. Then went to Almost Cut My Hair, with David's vocals.

Bonnie then came out and sang Love Has No Pride with David and Graham providing the harmonies. Great!

Enter Jackson...started with lead guitar intro into The Pretender, and with C & N's awesome vocals, it made for a great live rendition of one of his classics.

Finally, JT came out and did alternate lead vocals on Still's Love the One Your With. Nice touch, there.

Being a fan of all this guys, it was extremely enjoyable to see them play.

There were many more great performances (Simon & Garfunkel) throughout the rest of the show, but this is a Jackson Browne site......

Buy this when it's available...the whole show is incredible!!!

Thanks for your work, Russ...

CONCERT REVIEW: December 7, 2009 at Civic Center in Des Moines, IA

Russ;

Jackson Browne's show in Des Moines Monday night was enthusiastically received by the audience. Jackson opened with "Barricades of Heaven" and closed with an encore of "Take It Easy" (with guitar tech Manny), mixing in mostly older material and a couple of Warren Zevon songs in a two-hour show. Jackson was in good voice and again showed his mastery of the guitar and keyboard (even though he thought he was in Davenport at the start of the show).

Great songs all and I was fotunate to hear him perform "Love Needs A Heart," "Sleep's Dark and Silent Gate" and "The Birds of St. Mark's" live (I don't think I've heard them at other shows before). After seeing Jackson in concert 9 times I finally came to realize that Springsteen was correct when he said Jackson's shows draw more than their share of beautiful women in the audience. It's unfortunate for me that I hadn't taken time to observe this fact earlier.

Thank you so much for the work on the site.
