Fan Letters & Reviews August 2007 CONCERT REVIEW: July 29, 2007 at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA This isn't a full review of the concert, but it's the best I have time and energy for at the moment... Well, I enjoyed the show last night. It was the first time I've seen Ben Harper, and I enjoyed his set. Jackson sounded great for his set. He started the night with "The Barricades of Heaven" and "Fountain of Sorrow". He finished the night with "The Pretender" and "Running on Empty"... and then "Doctor My Eyes" for an encore. He also performed "About My Imagination", "World In Motion" and "Don't You Want To Be There" during his set. I didn't take notes and was really tired after a long weekend, so I don't have the full set list. Maybe someone else will post it. The evening confirmed my opinion that I really don't care for the venue. They oversold dinner reservations, didn't have enough tables, didn't even seem to have enough glasses and serving utensils. The food is WAY overpriced for what it is. I think they get their lasagna and desserts directly from Costco. The sound in the place is "muddy" at best, though they sure can make it loud. I've been there dozens of times over the years, and it never gets any better... But as I said, it was a great set by Jackson. His band included Kevin McCormick, Mark Goldenberg, Mauricio "Fritz" Lewak. They were joined by Craig Doerge on keyboards (really awesome) and the two lead vocalists from the Fred Martin & The Levite Camp group to sing harmony... and share some inspirational lead vocals as well. In fact, these wonderful ladies had the audience in their hands and Jackson's versions of his songs were more "soul" flavored than usual. Very nice. I got to see LOTS of people from the Jackson Browne lists. It's always nice to see everyone at these shows and to get to meet some of the fans in person for the first time. I'm constantly impressed at how Jackson Browne has the best fans... just the nicest people. Also spent some time talking with Rosemary Butler who was in the audience but didn't sing. (Rosemary and Doug Haywood are working on an album together that they hope will be out later this year.) I got to talk with Mark Goldenberg before the show as he took a walk with his wife and children. I also briefly got to meet Craig Doerge and shake his hand. It was the end of a very long weekend, but I thoroughly enjoyed Jackson's set. I hope the evening raised some awareness and money for what seems like a very worthwhile charity, Boardinghouse Mentors. Having listened to album after album her mother played. Songs from her teenage years and beyond. Now for the first time, her own. As she personally experienced the talent so many know. ![]() Craig Doerge & Jackson Browne Submitted by: lkrempasky@verizon.net (Lisa K., Solvang, CA) Go To Jackson Browne Fan Letters and Reviews from September 2007 RETURN to Jackson Browne Fan Letters Page RETURN to Jackson Browne Home Page |
