With Jackson Browne's mini-tour with Tom Petty over, and the fact that he hasn't released a new album in five and a half years, most of the letters that are coming in are focused on questions about when Jackson plans to release a new album.

According to Jackson's management and other inside sources, Jackson is currently in the studio working on his next album. He hopes to have the album finished by the end of this year. Then it will be turned over to Elektra Records for release. The exact release date will be determined by Elektra and is likely to depend upon their internal marketing schedule.

So, it looks like the release will be sometime in 2002. I've heard nothing definitive about a tour, but I'm expecting that there will be a full world tour once the album is released.

We all have something to look forward to in the coming year and I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
