Fan Letters & Reviews April 2007 AN OPEN LETTER TO JACKSON BROWNE: My open letter of gratitude to Jackson Browne How do you thank a poet, whose words have reached into your soul? A stranger's voice that has shared those long dark challenges and helped you reach the light. A sightseer that was brave enough to share his soul with the world. Those words have helped me find my tears, find my laughter and even reminded me of my love; as if his words were sung just for me. I discovered your voice when at 18 my father was murdered; your voice sent me comfort like a strong father's hand. Because of my youth, I was able to indulge my desire for more of your words and brought all the alums I could find. As I grew into my life as a wife and a mother, your words came with me, but somewhere along the way, I lost the material, my alums. My beautiful loving husband bestowed your voice upon me and gave me some of your alums, when I was lost as a consequence of challenges we had with my oldest son, I feared he would be lost. Your voice calmed me again and helped me to be strong for my family. We won; my son and family came out the other side together. As I matured I took a risk to follow my life journey, my work; On those days I just wanted to give up or thought I was a fool your voice, your words once again inspired me. I'd sing your songs to you, but you would be sorry you asked J. So, I will sing your songs to my children, and I will show my gratitude, by continuing my life journey and reminding myself speak words with love. Because you have shown me that what we risk giving can inspirer someone to give. We might become everyday angels, because of a word, a smile, a hope from a passerby. Thank you, Jackson Browne for sharing your love.
