Concerts at the Bodie House
Agoura Hills, California

Please note: "Concerts at the Bodie House" is simply the name we choose to describe our private parties, in our private home. These parties are NOT a business nor are they a business related activity. They are strictly a hobby for us, and are simply gatherings of our friends and guests to enjoy live acoustic music, fellowship, food (a potluck dessert buffet) and fun. Our concert parties are officially free (or else it might be considered a business), although voluntary contributions (suggested donation of $15 per person) are accepted at the party on behalf of the artists. 100% of all contributions go directly to the performers. By invitation only.

All house concerts begin at 8:00 P.M. unless otherwise noted.

*** UPCOMING HOUSE CONCERTS ***

Sunday, January 11, 2009 - Fred Eaglesmith
To be held at the Thousand Oaks Library, 6pm
Fred EaglesmithFred Eaglesmith is an award-winning singer-songwriter who inspires comparisons to icons like Woody Guthrie and Bruce Springsteen, tops the roots music charts, and boasts devoted fans that include a slew of his fellow songwriters. High-profile tastemakers in the know - fellow musicians like Toby Keith and The Cowboy Junkies as well as film folks like Martin Scorsese and James Caan, to name a few - consider him one of the stellar musical and lyrical talents of our day. Though a decidedly grassroots artist in the thematic focus of his songs and how he pursues his career, playing some 180 shows a year across North America as well as Europe and Australia and releasing his own records under his cheekily-titled A Major Label imprint, Eaglesmith boasts an impact that far better known musical acts can only dream of. His latest album and 16th release, Milly's Cafe, hit the Top 10 on the Americana chart, and he is also the only Canadian to have ever written a #1 song on the bluegrass charts. He is the subject of three tribute albums and enjoys critical comparisons to some of the most respected talents in music as well as the respect of his peers.
This show will be held at the Thousand Oaks Library (Grant R. Brimhall Library), 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.

Saturday, January 31, 2009 - Jonathan McEuen
To be held at the Thousand Oaks Library, 8pm
Jonathan McEuenJonathan McEuen was born to play music and bring joy to those listening. Good genes and a star-studded "extended musical family" are great (his father is a famous rock star banjo picker), but when people respond to Jonathan's extraordinary voice and guitar playing, it's obvious he's more than "just another son of a star." He spent his youth and now his young adult life on the road, doing what he loves most, playing guitar and singing with the family, playing electric and acoustic guitar and singing background for a number of world class artists, and fronting his own bands. Most recently, he put in serious time as half the lead of major label duo Hanna McEuen. That experience confirmed he was ready to move forward and create music outside the confines of his influences or a specific genre. With more shows behind him than he can count (Jay Leno, Grand Ol' Opry, and Red Rocks among them), Jonathan's prepared to take music, and audiences, to a new place. Playing music without limitations is what he's interested in pursuing these days. He'll be creating new genres, breaking some molds and fusing musical traditions in his own, inspired way.
This show will be held at the Thousand Oaks Library (Grant R. Brimhall Library), 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.

Sunday, March 1, 2009 - Lucy Kaplansky
To be held at the Thousand Oaks Library, 6pm
Lucy KaplanskyLucy Kaplansky started out singing in Chicago bars. Then, barely out of high school, she took off for New York City. There she found a fertile community of songwriters and performers - Suzanne Vega, John Gorka, Bill Morrissey, Cliff Eberhardt, and others - where she fit right in. With a beautiful flair for harmony, Lucy was everyone's favorite singing partner, but most often she found herself singing as a duo with Shawn Colvin. People envisioned big things for them; in fact, The New York Times said it was "easy to predict stardom for her." She harmonized on Colvin's Grammy-winning Steady On, on Nanci Griffith's Lone Star State of Mind and Little Love Affairs, and on four of John Gorka's albums. She also landed soundtrack credits, singing with Suzanne Vega on Pretty in Pink and with Griffith on The Firm, and several commercial credits as well. Red House Records released Lucy's debut solo ablum, The Tide, in 1994 to rave reviews, and within six months Lucy signed with a major booking agency. Kaplansky's voice continues to remain in high demand by her peers. She can be heard on albums by Bryan Ferry, Nanci Griffith, John Gorka and on the Greg Brown tribute album Going Driftless (also featuring Ani Difranco, Iris Dement, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Gillian Welch, Eliza Gilkyson and others). She also teamed with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell to form supergroup Cry Cry Cry.
This show will be held at the Thousand Oaks Library (Grant R. Brimhall Library), 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.
